Drive through Bosnia’s beautiful capital city in an authentic Yugoslav vintage car, Yugo Koral. Aside from the unique experience of driving in it, we'll have a unique panoramic tour of Sarajevo seeing the most important monuments from the socialist period.
BOOK A TOURUncover the Yugo's story, from its origins and cultural impact to its lasting legacy as a symbol of 1980s Yugoslavia.
For people in ex-Yugoslavia, the Yugo was more than just a car; it was part of the family. Now an icon, it represents the lifestyle of 1980s Yugoslavia. It was affordable and could take the entire family anywhere! It is so iconic that there is even a whole song by a popular ex-Yu rock band, ‘Zabranjeno pusenje’ dedicated to it.
The production started in 1981 in the Zastava factory in Kragujevac, Serbia and from 1986 it was also exported to the USA, becoming the cheapest new car money could buy. In the US, it went down as ‘the worst car in history’. Make sure to check out the US Yugo commercial!
Ironically, the Yugo became a Hollywood star, appearing in 12 movies alongside Bruce Willis in "Die Hard 3" (watch the scene), Danny DeVito in "Drowning Mona" (watch the scene) and many more. Funnily enough, Yugo usually appeared as the bad guy, causing trouble by being unreliable, faulty and slow.
By visiting the city’s hot spots from ex-Yugoslavia, you will experience the socialist era of Sarajevo in all its authenticity through the windows of a Yugo!
Feel the smell of gasoline, listen to the engine revving and make sure to slam the door when entering.
Enjoy in the nature of mt. Trebevic where the remains of the Olympic bobslide track are located.
Ride in a funicular with a view of one of the largest socialist neighbourhoods in the country - Ciglane.
Park commemorating thousands of victims who perished during the WWII at the hands of Axis aggression

“The Yugo tour was super informative and enjoyable, the guide picked me up and we went to see the abandoned Olympic bobsled track and told me all about the rise and fall of Yugoslavia. Later on I learned more about the Yugo and it's cultural significance!”
"I rode with Danis in his Yugo and it was quite the experience. I had not ridden in a Yugo before but I had heard a lot about the car from relatives. Danis provided a great deal of information about the car and its history, with the history of Yugoslavia weaved into it as well. Overall, it was an unforgettable time."
"I really had a blast in the iconic car, and learned some fascinating details about its history and the history of the former country of Yugoslavia in general. From visiting the ruined Olympic bobsled track to experiencing socialist architecture, the tour was very enjoyable and informative."
“In my 3 years traveling through Ex-Yugo countries, the Yugo ride was the last missing experience. Danis showed us Sarajevo, sharing insights about the city, Yugoslavia, and his car. Highly recommend this tour for exploring Europe’s cities from a legendary car.”

We do a big annual inspection and frequent smaller checks as well so the Yugo is in a great condition and totally safe to drive in!
Yes, during the tour we make multiple stops to take a walk around the attraction and to take photos!
No. The drive in the Yugo is a real “back to the 80’s” experience where you cool yourself by opening the windows.
No, we don’t provide any type of insurance on our tour.
Yugos have seatbelts on the front seats, and they must be buckled. On the back seats Yugos don’t have seatbelts. According to local law, if there are no built-in seatbelts in a car, they do not need to be buckled. Therefore, passengers seated at the rear of our Yugos, are not committing any traffic violation.
In that (unlikely) case, we would cover the return cost and we would discuss the refund options with our guests.
If you have a valid driving license, know how to drive a manual and if we see that you can drive a car without power steering, then – yes, you can drive it for a while supervised by our driver.
If it drizzles – it’s not a problem. In case of heavy rain, we like to wait a bit until it stops, just out of practical reasons – you can’t see anything through the window full of rain drops. In wintertime, however, when streets our covered with salt, the Yugo is hibernating in the garage to avoid the rust. However, if it’s a warm winter day (no icing or snow on the road that requires salting of streets), we’re driving!
Yes, but in that case the tour costs 35 euros.
